Make sure that you take time to stretch out the previously torn muscle before you use it. Any pull/ micro tear of the muscle fiber will stay knotted at the location of the tear until you take the time to work it out. Time does not heal most muscle injuries. You need to warm it up before you plan to use it and ice following any activity to keep the area from getting inflamed again. Also a wrap, theigh sleeve or hip spica would be a good idea to wear while practicing. If pain and swelling persists even through treatment and care, make sure you visit your doctor to make sure that the bone isn't disrupted and the tear isn't out of control.

Hey Mr. York!,
It's me...the cheerleader with the back injury from last year. Since I don't go to Rockford anymore and I continue to have problems, I have a few questions to ask you. 1) Last night I was at practice and I got a shot of pain down my right leg, yet again...what can I do to prevent this from happening? 2) Is there any way that I can come and have you check out my problem areas and tell me what to do and what is wrong with me? (considering that I don't attend rockford anymore). Thank you for your time...
-Anon.

Hey Cheerleader,

Rams are always welcome to come back to rockford to be seen in the Training Room. I will let you know the best avenue for getting better. Most likely I will refer you to a physical therapist, but having your back evaluated is a good start. My schedule is posted on the RAT homepage as well as my e-mail address. Let me kow when you plan to come in.

You have triceps tendonitis and medial epicondylitis from the medial collateral ligament sprain. For triceps tendonitis you should do rest, ice, compression, and elevation and either a hyperextension tape job or a counterforce brace above the elbow. You need to do a triceps stretch also.
The other injury you have is an MCL sprain. You should treat it by strengthening using wrist curls.

Dear John,
The problem you are experiencing is probably nerve related, It sounds like you pinched it by stepping at a bad angle. That either pinched the nerve in the bones in your pelvis, or you overused a muscle that surrounds the nerve.

I suggest ice for pain and swelling, stretch with one leg crossing the other while sitting (hollywoods). Laying on your back and pulling your knees to your chest to stretch your butt. Also, lay in a T position on your back, and bring your left foot to your right hand (IT band stretch)
